Day 2 in Bogota

Our first full day as a family of 6 went very well! We had no expectations on our new daughters, just a lot of info, not quite sure how they would react to being in our family...not sure how Isabel and Silas would react either...Here's a glimpse into our day...
It started out very early, at 5:30am with Caroline quietly sitting up in her bed. We had a sweet morning. Below is Marta very content at breakfast!

Yes, Marta is a big thumb sucker! It is just precious!!
She also is very attached to the blankie that we sent her back in September!

We discovered that Marta is very tiny, more like a size of a 9-12 month old, and has the development of about a 9mo old. Los Pisingos made it very clear that within 2 weeks she will begin to progress significantly. We believe this to be true.

Marta prefers Papi or Mami, but, has really warmed up to Isabel by the end of today. She has no desire to pull herself up, unless she is in her crib. Her legs are very weak, but, she definitely is all there. We have seen her stubborness in avoiding to eat solids, we know she can...she responds with nodding her head yes and no. It is quite comical to feed her actually. She is so sweet, smiling easily (Papi can make her smile the most), loving to be held and snuggle! She is a very calm and content little girl!

And sweet Caroline...she is adjusting. Very much prefers Mami and only Mami, a bit cautious of Papi. She is very tender, smiles easily, calm, and gentle. We are amazed at how organized and bright she is. Early today she did not want to engage with Isabel or Silas, it is slowly changing...her world has been rocked, and she is such a brave little girl!

The girls have not been out much, so, we were advised to take it slow. We walked to the park near the Paris. It went very well. It was such a warm sunny day! (It is summer in Bogota)!

Silas very much enjoys his "bebe!" He is a great big brother to both hermanas!

After lunch Caroline made serious progress with Isabel. Isabel has been SO patient and gentle with her, not being hurt or offended if she is ignored. Caroline and Isabel actually have similar personlities, being very cautious and shy in new situations...but, we can see that once comfortable, Caroline is going to be very outgoing and happy (like Isabel).

So, we experienced some stepping stones today. LP cautioned us that Caroline may be very difficult at bath time...not the case at all. I let her watch Isabel in the tub for a few minutes, and soon, she was splashing and having lots of fun with her new big sis!
Marta started out the day not wanting to attempt any kind of physical activity, just wanting to be held...by the end of the day, Silas and I had her crawling around after her little doll that giggles.

The most precious moment of today was tucking Caroline in to bed! She did not want me to read to her, but, she went and grabbed the book I made for her of her new familia. She may show some resistance to John and Silas...but, tonight under her night light she was touching their pictures and saying, "Papa," "Silas"...and going through each of us...but, returning back to "Papa!"

God has again showered us with his amazing grace...giving us some great moments to celebrate today!
